Who we are
We are a small crew of motoring writers, technicians and EV owners who got tired of press releases dressed up as reviews. Darlene Espert started in 2019 as a weekend newsletter about buying and keeping a car without being overcharged.
Today it reaches thousands of monthly readers who compare models, plan a service and work out whether an electric car actually fits their week.
Our mission
Our mission is to make car decisions less intimidating. Every week we publish free news and buying guides across five sections: Automotive News, Car Reviews, Vehicle Maintenance, Electric Cars and Car Buying Tips.
Each guide carries 2026 prices, worked examples and the trade-offs nobody puts in the brochure, so you can act on it the same day rather than admire a spec sheet.
Editorial standards
No sponsored picks, no pay-to-rank lists. We drive at retail or borrow long-term test cars, disclose relationships, and correct mistakes in public within 48 hours of learning about them.
Numbers come from manufacturers, regulators and our own comparisons, never from a press kit alone. If a car fails in real use, we say so plainly and show the maths.
The team
Darlene Espert (editor, 12 years covering the car industry), Marcus Reed (service technician, former workshop foreman) and Elena Park (EV analyst and long-distance commuter).
Supported by contributing reviewers who check every guide before it ships, from the service intervals to the external sources we cite.
